Django Revised from Matt Brewer on Vimeo.
This is the project I did with a friend for our Sound Design final at Northern Arizona University in the Fall of 2012. This is NOT the trailer made by Tarantino, but rather, a parody of sorts. This was not used for profit, and exists solely as a creative parody. We do not claim the rights to any of the dialogue, music, or video.
For the project, we took the video from a trailer that we had never seen before that went to a film that has yet to be released (Django Unchained), ripped the video feed, had the dialogue transcribed by a third party, and went to work trying to re-create the sound design of the trailer. This work included voice acting, music, scene design, and audio effects. Careful listeners will notice that we even chose one of the same songs that Quentin used, albeit, a different part of the track.
We showed our trailer (the one above) in class directly before watching Tarantino’s version (which can be found here: youtube.com/watch?v=rC8VJ9aeB_g) for the first time.
How do you think we did?TL;DR: We tried to re-create the sound for the Django Unchained trailer, having never seen it before.
